A Look at the Baseball Bat Art

This ball game has been a favourite pastime for many kids and adults. Whether you are a die-hard fan of a famous team or simply an aspiring player, it has been a sport not only about hitting the ball with a wooden bat, but pitching and even making a slide to the nearest base have also gained much attention.

But who would have thought that art can be made out of that piece of wood? It is not just about carving the bat to make it something else; it is also making something that is similar to the object, making you look at in a different perspective.

You can check out the artwork of Gary Mifflin, a custom stair builder for more than a decade. His artistic tastes have enabled him to create Louie, a figure of a baseball player carved out of a bat. Other than creating a human figure out of an existing object, he has also created sculptures inspired from his love of the sport and his own view of life. These artworks share the resemblance of a bat but are made from other kinds of wood, not necessarily coming from the hitting object.

Artworks, a group of Cincinnati artists, raised funds for non-profit work by creating baseball art. Unlike Gary Mifflin, their works are derived from the bat and given a new twist, making them unique masterpieces. Two of their works have gotten sponsors.
